The Flash era has finally come to a close, as Adobe are killing off the final vestiges of Flash – Adobe Animate. Even though Flash has been gone for several years now, Adobe Animate is still heavily used in the animation industry.
Adode made the following announcement about the end-of-life of Adobe Animate:

Thanks for bringing your ideas to life with Animate.
Starting March 1, 2026, the app will no longer be available for purchase. Existing Animate customers may continue to use the app. Support will continue for enterprise customers for three years, through March 1, 2029. For all other customers, support will continue for one year, through March 1, 2027.
In the future, check out Adobe After Effects for complex keyframe animations and Adobe Express for one-click animation effects that you can easily apply to photos, videos, text, shapes, and other design elements.
From the FAQ, Adobe answered the following in regards to “Why is Adobe discontinuing Animate?”:
Animate has been a product that has existed for over 25 years and has served its purpose well for creating, nurturing, and developing the animation ecosystem. As technologies evolve, new platforms and paradigms emerge that better serve the needs of the users. Acknowledging this change, we are planning to discontinue supporting Animate.
