Late last week the Blender Foundation released Blender 5.0 Beta. There are a ton of new features in this version that is schedule to be fully released on November the 5th. In the video below we take a look at some of the highlight features of Blender 5 that are of particular interest to game developers, including:
- Scatter on Surface Modifier
- Completely New Array Modifier
- Curve to Pipe Tool
- New Lattice Deform Selected Object
- New Storyboarding template
- New painting tools/brushes for pixel artists
- Improvements to geometry and shader nodes, specifically
- Bundles (think structs)
- Closures (think functions)
- Changes to the .blend file format supporting longer IDs and larger scenes
