There is a new free addon for Blender released by @FR3NKD that enables you to quickly and automatically maximize the 3D viewport in Blender. Details from the announcement tweet:
Installing the addon is trivial. SImply download Smart Maximizer from Gumroad, it will download as a single .py file.
In Blender go to Edit->Preferences, then select the Add-Ons tab, drop down the arrow at the top right corner then select Install from Disk… selecting the newly downloaded .py file.
