Blockbench is an incredibly easy to use 3D modelling application we checked out earlier this year that has a major release coming soon. Currently available in Beta 3, Blockbench 5 is a major update including a new user interface design, improved animation tools, new modelling tools and more. Blockbench is free and open source with binaries available for Windows, Mac and Linux as well as a web version.
New features in Blockbench 5 include:

- Armatures / Mesh deformation
- Splines
- Billboards
- Panel tabs
- Changes to customizing themes
- Added normal map color picker
- Added quaternion interpolation mode (opt-in per timeline animator in generic models)
- Added setting to toggle automatically loading textures as flipbook
