Epic’s MetaHuman Creator is Now in Early Acess

First announced back in February, MetaHuman Creator is a new online service for creating life like digital humans quickly and easily. Starting today, MetaHuman Creator is now available in early access. Using MetaHuman Creator you essentially create life like characters in a similar manner to creating your avatar in many video games, however the results are fully rigged, with 8K textures as well as multiple LODs making it possible to use them on mobile phones to next gen consoles.

EDIT — Now that I have access to MetaHuman Creator, you can check out our 20 minutes hands-on demonstration available here.

You simply need to sign up for free, although it is an online service and it could take a few days, as noted on the Unreal Engine blog:

Due to the cloud-based nature of the application, we need to add applicants gradually, so it may take a few days before you get your turn. Rest assured, we will do our best to get everyone on board as soon as possible!

For those who just want to get going right away in Unreal Engine, we’re also providing over 50 ready-made MetaHumans for you to download and use in your projects directly from Quixel Bridge. Simply download the free application and click on the MetaHumans section. For more information, see the documentation.

Head on over here to sign up for MetaHuman Creator using your Epic Games credentials. As mentioned above, there are also 50 digital characters available right now on Quixel Bridge, that can be exported to Unreal Engine or your DCC application of choice, such as Max, Maya and Blender. Check out the video below to learn more about MetaHuman Creator in early access and stay tuned for a hands-on with MetaHuman Creator in the next couple days.

Also a special thanks to our sponsor DeepMotion, check out Animate3D a powerful tool for making 3D animations from a single video. Sign up using code ‘GAMEFROMSCRATCH’ and receive twice as much animation time! Please allow 24 – 48 hours for the extra time to appear on your account.
