FPS Builder for Unity Hands-On Review

Today we are looking at another asset in the ongoing Unity Game Dev Bundle on Humble, FPS Builder. FPS Builder can be thought of a as a vertical slice of a first person shooter, containing two levels, half a dozen functioning fire arms and several game managers enabling you to run, climb, zoom, slide, jump, fall and take damage. The asset is designed in a modular manner and can either be extended upon or extract it pieces for use in your own FPS style game.

The primary features of FPS Builder as described on the Unity Store page:

PLAYER
The player uses a smooth and reliable physics-driven Character Controller with a camera controller. It features most systems present in the current AAA titles in the market, like ladder climbing, sliding, and parkour skills. It also includes an advanced health management system, capable of simulating the majority of body members and their characteristics.

ANIMATIONS
We have worked on a complete procedural animator for cameras and weapons, for simulating movement-like and action’s responsiveness. Make your users feel what is happening to the character in-game, visually.

WEAPONS
The weapon system is a completely comprehensive system used to simulate a vast array of weaponry intricately, yet retaining a high level of ease of use, using the power of both procedural and imported animations to create seamless weapon simulations. The weapon system can handle all types of modern firearms from sniper rifles to a fully automated pistol, you can create any kind of bullet projectile-based guns.

ENVIRONMENT PACK
The package comes with two complete maps, Bridge, an open map in battlefield field style and Pine, a close quarters styled map. All models textured in 4K for the highest quality and optimized for the finest performance.

MODERN WEAPONS PACK
We’re also including 5 AAA quality weapons in the package. All guns are completely animated and textured in 4K for the highest quality.

Weapons Included
• ACR (Assault Rifle)
• Vector (SMG)
• Spas-12 (Pump-Action Shotgun)
• Python (Revolver)
• CS5 (Sniper Rifle)

You can see FPS Builder in action in the video below (or on Odysee here). It is important to note that currently FPS builder uses the build in pipeline only, although HDRP support is shown on the roadmap. This is not the only asset in the bundle we have featured, you can learn more about other assets in the bundle such as UModeler, Clayxels and Peek. The Humble Unity GameDev Bundle ends when September ends, so don’t miss out!
