It’s time for the July Epic Games bi-monthly asset giveaway on the Fab marketplace, with 3 free assets from July 14th – July 28th. Once “purchased” the assets are yours free to keep forever. This giveaway contains 3 Unreal Engine assets as well as 1 asset for Unity (and generic FBX format for all game engines) – but as you can see from the video you can export most Unreal Engine assets to Godot(or Unity and other engines/tools) using the guides below.
In addition to the Epic Games giveaway there are a few other new free resources of note. The Unity weekly Publisher Sale giveaway is currently suspended while the Asset Store Summer Sale continues.
Over on Bundle Foundry the Ovani Sound Ultimate Game SFX & Ambient Music Bundle continues for a few more days, which of course also includes a completely free audio pack. It is joined by the Master Godot Engine GameDevTV Bundle, the Hard-Surface Kitbash & Brush Mega Bundle and the Ultimate Scanned PBR Material Bundle (UE5), all of which contain a completely free asset tier! Do be aware, some of them have a limited number of free assets available, so act quickly!
The July free Fab asset giveaway consists of the following assets:
- Stylized Village (Village, Stylized Village, Stylized Town, Medieval Village)
- Ultimate Difficulty Scaling (UDS)
- Pack of tree ents
Kenney of Kenney.nl fame has also released another 3D asset pack completely free – the Modular Cave Kit.
There are also some interesting software releases completely free. JangaFX have made their first commercial project available completely for free – VectoryGen, a real-time procedural vector field generator. You can read about why JangaFX released VectoryGen for free right here.
Additionally Smartly Dressed Games have released their game Unturned source code and assets. Unturned is a free to play title and was created using the Unity game engine. Finally, as we covered last week Eve Online creator Fenris Creations have open source the Carbon game engine/framework, the technology behind Eve Online and Eve Frontier.
