The Godot Community Firestorm

Over the weekend a firestorm erupted in the Godot community. It was started by this initial tweet on Friday afternoon:

This resulted in a large negative response against the Godot community team. In handling the response they moderated and moderated hard, with most major individuals on the Godot team switching to protected comments, as well as a wave of blocks, such as this one:

The Godot Foundation have issues the following official statement on the entire situation in the following tweet:On Friday, we made a tweet that unexpectedly led to a wave of harassment  directed at our staff and community. We unequivocally condemn this abuse.

The volume of negative engagement overwhelmed our moderation efforts. While attempting to protect the Godot community we mistakenly blocked  individuals who were not participating in the harassment. The Godot  Foundation Board takes full responsibility for these moderation actions.
